Webmail Installation for Windows

After running the InstallShield wizard, there are a few things that need to be done to complete your EMU Webmail installation.

  1. There are 2 directories that EMUMAIL installs. One is 'emu3' or 'emumail' in your web server root. The other is 'emu3data' or 'emudata' (used for storing users' mail). You need to set the permissions on both these directories to allow 'Network' Read/Write/Execute access.

  2. Setup your web server to execute CGI scripts. For Microsoft IIS 4.x do the following: Open the Internet Service Manager. Right click on the 'emu3' folder and select 'Properties' In the 'Directory' tab set the following:

    Access Permission -> check 'Read', uncheck 'Write' Permissions -> select 'Execute (including script)' Content Control -> uncheck 'Directory browsing allowed'

  3. Configure the site.emu file in 'emu3data' directory. The defaults should work for most installations. The most common settings that you may need to change would be:

    default_pop=pop.mydomain.com
    smtp_host=smtp.mydomain.com

  4. You are now ready to run EMU Webmail! Load the the page in your browser using the URL http://mydomain.com/emu3/emumail.exe.
