EMUmail's WebMail 4.5 Brings Major Enhancements to Web Mail Applications -- Scalable and Robust Solution for ISPs, ASPs, and Portals to Quickly Deliver New Functionality to Users

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Jan 16, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- EMUmail, a developer of email products and services, has announced the availability of its Web-to-email engine EMU WebMail(TM) 4.5 Unlimited version. A robust and highly scalable software package, WebMail 4.5 provides access to POP or IMAP email accounts from any HTML-compliant Web browser. ISPs, ASPs, portals, and others can integrate the EMU WebMail 4.5 Unlimited version into their Web sites to provide a unique, customized email interface for their own users in any language - without sacrificing performance or worrying about reliability or ongoing

enhancements. Each copy of the Unlimited version supports an unlimited number of domain names and up to 50,000 users based on the user profile that EMUmail has identified for typical Web mail applications. WebMail 4.5 Unlimited is priced at $3,500.

WebMail 4.5 supports all HTML 2.0 and above Web browsers. Since the product does not use any Java or Javascript technology, it is an ideal solution for a wide range of display devices from WebTVs and PDAs to the more traditional PC and Macintosh desktop systems. EMU WebMail is based on EMUmail's IMAP QuickView technology, which gives users the ability to quickly display mail messages, regardless of the size of the mailbox or the number of folders it contains. Version 4.5 has a new default interface and embedded Perl support for further user interface customizations. The product's standard features include those typically found in desktop email clients: attachments, spell check, user address books, filtering rules, remote mailbox viewing, and real-time spam detection. A single installation can control thousands of domains and their different user interfaces. In addition, the software can be clustered and scaled to encompass millions of users running on hundreds of independent CPUs.

"Our customers consider email to be a crucial Internet application. Therefore, their email solution absolutely must be highly reliable, scalable, and cost effective," said Wayne Threatt, CEO of EMUmail. "This new version of WebMail lets ISPs, ASP, and portals provided branded, web access to email at a fraction of the cost of internally developed or other available solutions."

Founded in 1998, EMUmail specializes in email products and services that let ISPs, ASPs, portals, and other organizations offer reliable and cutting- edge email functionality to thousands of users cost-effectively and reliably without sacrificing carrier-class performance.
