EMUmail Delivers Web Mail Capability to Medium-sized Companies and Small Businesses -- Robust solution provides access to POP or IMAP email accounts from any Web browser
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Jan 23, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- EMUmail, a developer
of email products and services, has announced the availability of its
Web-to-email engine EMU WebMail(TM) 4.5 in two versions aimed at medium-sized
companies and small businesses. Previously WebMail was only available as an
enterprise-wide solution primarily used by ISPs, ASPs, portals, and others to
enhance other offerings. A robust and highly scalable software package, WebMail
4.5 provides access to POP or IMAP email accounts from any HTML-compliant Web
browser. Both new versions let companies provide a unique, customized email
interface for their own employees in any language - without sacrificing
performance or worrying about reliability or ongoing enhancements. The WebMail
4.5 Company Version, priced at $1,995, supports five domains with up to 2500
users. The Small Business Version, priced at $750, supports one domain with up
to 100 users.
WebMail 4.5 supports all HTML Web browsers, versions 2.0 and above. Since the
product does not use any Java or Javascript technology, it is an ideal solution
for a wide range of display devices from WebTVs and PDAs to the more traditional
PC and Macintosh desktop systems. EMU WebMail is based on EMUmail's IMAP
QuickView technology, which gives users the ability to quickly display mail
messages, regardless of the size of the mailbox or the number of folders it
contains. Version 4.5 has a new default interface and embedded Perl support for
further user interface customizations. The product's standard features include
those typically found in desktop email clients: attachments, spell check, user
address books, filtering rules, remote mailbox viewing, and real-time spam
detection.
"Email is an essential application for any business today, and companies must
have a cost-effective solution for employees who travel and need to access their
email regardless of where they are," said Wayne Threatt, CEO of
EMUmail. "Now medium-sized companies and even smaller businesses can cost
effectively host and manage their own Web-based email so employees can easily
check email using only their primary email address, regardless of where they
are."
Web-based email lets companies host and manage their own email so employees can
use their browser to access email regardless of their location. Depending on the
number of domains and users, Web-based email can be more cost effective than
other alternatives and gives companies more control over their email. It also
eliminates the necessity to forward email from a company address to a free mail
service for access while traveling. With WebMail 4.5, small and medium-size
business can centralize management of their email.
